Oscar Villagrana is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger who simultaneously continues a dual career in music education. Known for his work in Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, Jazz and other generes of improvised music, Oscar has performed with musicians such as Marcos Silva, Jovino Santos Neto, Julien Wilson, John Calloway, Erik Jekabson, Scott Tinkler, Alysha Joy, Andrew Murrary, Steve Torok, Andrew Speight and Bob Boss.

After growing up in the Coachella Valley CA, and being influenced by seeing a decade of international acts at the Coachella Music Festival, Oscar has lived and performed in San Francisco CA, San Diego CA, Amsterdam NL, Melbourne AU, Welington NZ and has collaborated with artists such as Alysha Joy and David Paulis. He has performed with major ensembles such as the MiraCosta Oceanside Jazz Orchestra, Bay Area Rainbow Symphony, Amsterdam Student Choir, Australian Institute of Music Big Band, Moreland City Band Phoenix Project, and the SFSU Afro-Cuban Ensemble.

As a music educator and director, Oscar has taught brass and strings across various elementary schools and directed Jazz and Concert Band ensembles since 2021 in Berkeley California. As a private music instructor, Oscar has taught trumpet and piano since 2016 with students ranging between 9 and 55 years old. Oscar holds a Bachelors of Music Education from San Francisco State University and a California Teaching Credential. He has been teaching music for Berekeley Unified School District since 2021.
